Canella Doris Hoggard


Canella Doris Hoggard went to her Eternal Home on Friday, September 8, 2017 after a short illness at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 11 days. She was born October 28, 1927, in Portageville, Missouri to the late Louis Baylous McAnally and Anna Mabel (Hurley) McAnally.

She was united in marriage on July 13, 1948, in Piggott, Arkansas, to Lindell Hoggard who preceded her death on June 10 2009. Also preceding her in death along with her husband and parents, were her brothers, L.B. McAnally, Jr. and Larry McAnally; her sisters, Millie Brown, Madesta Shaw and Joan Berry.

She graduated from Portageville High School in 1947, second in her class behind her beloved Lindell. Besides being a wife and mother, she was a sales clerk at Marr's department store, a telephone operator, a secretary at Cypress Supply, an upholster at Stan's Upholstery, an office manager for Missouri Delta Council, a secretary at Portageville High School and for many years, a secretary at Howard Tillman CPA.

Prior to her moving in 2010 to an assisted living facility to be close to her family, she was an active member of J.Y. Church of God where she taught Sunday School, was president of the Missionary Society and lead music.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Debbie Hoggard of West Memphis, Arkansas, her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Greg Smith of St. Joseph, Missouri. In addition, she leaves behind four grandchildren: Tim (Ashley) Hoggard, Erin (Royce) Wilkinson, Dana (Justin) McFarland, Adam (Samantha) Smith, ten great-grandchildren: Albert, Henry, and Charlotte Hoggard; Liam and Cooper Wilkinson; Grey, Maybree and Harrison McFarland; Brody and Callie Smith: two sisters; Pat Lowery of Doniphan, Missouri and Sue (Ken) Anderson of St. Ann, Missouri, two brothers; L.W. McAnally of Doniphan, Missouri and Laddie (Glenda) McAnally of Sheppard, Texas and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
