Donnie Rex Smith was born July 20, 1938 in East Prairie, MO to Ira Smith and Kathern Lynch. He died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his home in Portageville, MO at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Rita Murphy, who preceded him in death. He later married, Melba Pack on June 20, 1989 in Benton, MO, who survives of the home. He served in the National Guard for 42 years and was a member of the Masons for over 50 years. He was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 42 years. He was of Methodist Faith. Preceding him in death were his parents, Kathern Lynch & Ira Smith, one step-son, Kevin Bess in 2011 and his brother, Ronnie Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Melba Smith of Portageville, MO, one daughter, Tammy Story of Portageville, MO, step-son, Kyle Bess of Los Angeles, CA, 6 Grandchildren: Lindsey Story, Lauren Story, Cory Bess, Alex Bess, Channing Bess, Davin Bess, 4 Great-Grandchildren: Molly DePauw, Dylan DePauw, Madilyn Henson, Lexie Bess and a host many other relatives and friends.
