Donald Ford Slough
W as born December 23, 1936 in Memphis, TN to Cearley "Kelly" Slough and Elizabeth Chambers Slough. He passed on Wednesday August 30, 2017 at MO Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 7 days.
H e was united in marriage February 9, 1974 in New Madrid, MO to Helen (Wilkins) Slough. She preceded him in death December 12, 2014. Also preceding him in death were his parents Elizabeth Chambers Slough and Cearley "Kelly" Slough , one son, Kelly Dewel Slough and one daughter, Donna C. Ivey. Ford lived a life dedicated to the service of others. He was a decorated United Sates Navy Seabee serving during operations Desert Shield / Desert Storm. He was retired from Noranda Aluminum Co. He was a 32° Mason in the Point Pleasant Lodge earning membership in the Scottish Rites of Freemasonry. He remained devoted to the military joining the VFW, American Legion and the Fleet Reserve Association. Ford joined the Portageville Fire Department in 1976 and served until his death attaining the rank of Assistant Chief. Even in his later years, Ford could be found proudly standing alongside his brother firefighters just as he had for the last 41 years.
H e leaves to cherish his many memories; four step-sons: Eddie C. Allen of Austin, TX, Brian Keith (Tammy) Allen, Michael L. (Marianne) Allen and Darian Edward (Candace) Allen all of Portageville, MO, 11 Grandchildren, 12 great - grandchildren and one great- great -grandchild, all of his fellow Portageville Fire Department family and a host of many other relatives and friends.
