Donald Gene Harris

Was born on March 17, 1938, in Moulton, Alabama to the late Marjorie Bailey Harris.  He passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 9 days.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, A.E. & Leola Harris, his mother, Marjorie Bailey and two grandsons, Joshua Davis and Tyrone Fowler.

He was united in marriage on November 23, 1957, in Tupelo, Mississippi to Bona Tribble, she survives of the home. He joined the National Guard in October 1957 and was honorably discharged in March of 1983.  Before he retired, He worked for Workman Oil Company and Drove the 18 wheeler for Don Hall Transport hauling hot molted metal of aluminum from Noranda to Tennessee. Then he worked for several years for Bunge and ended his truck driving career for the Jimmy Dean company working for the Sara Lee company until retirement. He was a faithful member of the Pentecostal Church at Portageville and was always lending a helping hand in any activity the church had going on.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 66 years Bona Harris of Portageville, Mo. Three children and spouses Travis and Tameria Harris of Portageville, Missouri, Kimberly and Faron Fowler of Hayti, Missouri and Sherry Davis of Portageville, Missouri. Six grandchildren, Erin Barnes, Kevin Fowler, Jordan Davis, Dominique Harris, Travis Harris, Jr, Tiffany Hill and his great grandchildren, Joshua, Destiny, Trace Greer, Eden and Westley Hill, all of whom he loved very much. And a host of many relatives and friends and his church family.
