Delmar J. "Buddy" Forrester Jr., 79, of Portageville, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born on July 23, 1946, in Portageville to the late Thelmer Fisher Forrester and Delmar R. Forrester. Buddy lived a full and meaningful life, marked by hard work, devotion to family, and simple joys that brought him happiness.

Buddy was united in marriage to Carol Chidester on December 2, 1963, in Portageville. She survives of the home after 62 years of loving partnership.

He worked for the University of Missouri and also spent many years as a truck driver. Buddy enjoyed going to auctions and thrift stores, and he especially cherished the time spent eating and visiting with the men at Katie's Diner. His easygoing nature and friendly spirit made him well-loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Wayne, Jimmy Henor, Mike, and David "Winky."

Buddy leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Carol Forrester of Portageville; his son, Timothy Forrester of Florida; and his daughters, Jackie Brodzinski (Michael) of Hayward, Missouri, and April Forrester (Brian) of Portageville.

He is also survived by his brother Ronnie Forrester (Lois) of Portageville; and his sisters Judy Dill of St. Louis, Patricia Thacker of Portageville, Linda Faye Asbell of New Madrid, and Betty Jackson of West Plains.

Buddy was blessed with many grandchildren: Cody Forrester, Delmar Forrester, Andrew Cecil, Ridley Forrester, and Keison Quick; as well as great‑grandchildren Sirra Cecil, Jacob McGarry, Jarrad Forrester, Cade Forrester, and Allira Forrester.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
