Clint William Edward Halstead III August 22, 1943-April 30, 2023
Clint William Edward Halstead III, 79, of Gideon passed away Sunday April 30. He was preceded in death by his father Clint William Edward II, his mother Dorothy Hestand Halstead, his brother Thomas Halstead and his wife of forty years, Marlene Ann Halstead.
Clint graduated from Massena High School New York in 1962. He was a talented athlete in track and field and excelled in football, receiving a full scholarship to Syracuse University. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1964. He served two tours in Vietnam, his first tour with the 173 rd Airborne Division and his second tour with the 101 st Airborne Division. During his second tour he was awarded the Bronze Star for outstanding meritorious service. After retiring from the military, Clint began his career in the aluminum industry at Noranda in New Madrid, Mo. He later relocated to Kentucky to raise his family and continue his career with Alcan, retiring in 1996.
Clint was always curious and loved to learn about the world. He was an avid reader, his favorite being Ernest Hemingway. He relished a cold morning in the duck blinds with his sons and friends. His favorite hobby in the last few years was woodcarving. He loved sharing his art and made hundreds of carvings over the years and gifted them to friends and family. A brilliant storyteller, he made many rooms erupt with laughter over the years. His absence will forever be felt in our family.
Surviving are his wife Lee Ann Halstead of Gideon, Son Clint Halstead IV, daughter in law Patricia, grandsons Clint William V and Clayton John of Clarksville, TN. Daughter Andrea Torrillo of Canton, CT, son in law Christian, granddaughters Sophia Ann and Mia Elizabeth. Son Craig Halstead of Portageville, Mo, daughter in law Sonja, granddaughters Alison Elizabeth and Reagen Ann. His step-son Tommy Halstead and his wife, Allison and their girls, Alice and Shelby, his sister Holly Harris of Vicksburg, MS, brother-in-law Ed. And their daughter Amanda Harris and several other nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday May 4 at Delisle Funeral Home Portageville, Mo. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00pm, with services beginning at 4:00pm. Burial will be the following day, Friday May 5 at 1:00pm at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West Hopkinsville, KY.
