Obituary

Charles Augustus Penman Was born May 25, 1920 in Portageville MO to Hazel Cole Penman and Thomas Abraham (T.A.) Penman he died Thursday ,July 12, 2012 at John J. Pershing Veteran's Hospital at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 18 days. He was a WWII Veteran, having served overseas in Italy as a Gunner and Photographer on B-17's, and completing 35 missions. After returning home after the war, he engaged in farming on the family farms. He was also active in various organization including past president of Portageville Farmers Gin, a former board member of the Union Farmers Gin, Captain of the Civil Air Patrol and Director for 19 years, Charter Member of the Missouri Flying Farmers, Mo Pilots Association. He was a Mason for 65 years, 60 Member Royal Arch. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post 4924 at Lilbourn and a member of the American Legion post #595 at New Madrid, where he enjoyed his many friends and helping them to sell tickets for various charities. Preceding him in death, were his parents, Hazel Cole Penman & Thomas Abraham (T.A.) Penman; one brother Robert Penman and his sister-in-law, Marjory Baker Penman of Ohio He leaves to cherish his memories four nieces, Hazel King, Ruth Fisher, Susan Penman of Ohio Sandy Simmons of Portageville, MO & one nephew, Robert Penman of Marston and a host many other relatives and friends.
