Obituary

Charles Michael "Mike" James, 75, passed away January 17, 2025 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He was born April 20, 1949, in Steele, Mo to the late Charlie James and Margaret Barksdale James.

He married Robin Mercer on April 11, 1997, in Barlow, Ky. Mike had many careers and talents throughout his life.  He worked many years at Woods Lumber Co. and served his city as an EMT, firefighter, and Police Officer.  He spent the last 25 years at Delisle Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 28 years Robin James; three daughters Melissa (James) Fowler of Portageville, MO, Angela (Eric) Eftink of Lakeland, TN, Sarah (Henon) Thacker of Portageville, MO, and one son Evan (Sara) Quick of Portageville, MO; seven grandchildren Chelsea (Tyler) Banko, Michael (Lacey) Fowler, Aaron (Harley) Eftink, Alexis Eftink, Kirk Thacker, Anna Quick and Jon Dalton Quick; five great-grandchildren Cohen, Lillie, and Dayton Banko, Ross and Ella Fowler, and Robert Ander Eftink; one sister, Nelda Kimes; one niece, Leslie Kimes, and one great-niece, Megan Barnard; and a host of many other family and friends.

Mike will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. A man that had grit, love, humor and compassion till the end. He always loved telling the most ridiculous stories to his kids and grandkids just to get a laugh and sometimes just to see if he could make us believe them.  Even when he was so sick in his last days he was still trying to make little jokes to get a laugh. That's the Mike so many people knew and loved, one who never took life to seriously and wanted to make people smile. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Family ask donation to be made to the American Lung Association  in memory of Charles M. James.
