Charles Larry "Yogi" Briggs

Was born February 03, 1944 in Malden, MO to Charles Duke Briggs and Theresa "Marie" LeSieur Briggs. He passed away on Sunday, March 04, 2018 at his home in New Madrid, MO at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 1 day.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Theresa "Marie" LeSieur Briggs and Charles Duke Briggs, one uncle, John LeSieur, one aunt, Kathleen Robbs, his cousin, Sandra Greene.

He served proudly for three years in the U.S Navy, and remained a major role in the local VFW, American Legion #595. He was past commander and a member of the Color Guard and the New Madrid Eagles. He taught at the Portageville School district from August 1992 until his retirement in May 2008 in which he still substituted and drove the bus after his retirement. He cared about all his students throughout the years. Mr. Yogi had many close friends including; Jim Lindley, Norman Vanamburg, Jim Fieldmeier, Dick Atwill, Jerry Scherer, Rick Nave, Sam Pikey, Carlos McHugh, Gene Trammel, Ronnie Gooch & Monk Warren they were always there for him in all the years, especially his American Legion and New Madrid Eagles family.

He leaves very little family members but a big supply of friends , co-workers and students that will always remember him so fondly, he touched a lot of lives, Mr Yogi will be missed, his infectious personality was known throughout the whole community
