Obituary

We celebrate the life of Cathy Lorene McCoy who passed away April 18th 2026 at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Born June 13th 1954 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Oder "Alexander" Fowler and Ola "Evelena" Taylor Fowler, she was a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church of Marston Missouri for over 45 years.

On December 22, 1976 she married Tommy Leonard McCoy at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Marston MO.

She and her husband of 45 years, Tom, built and operated a successful farm and seed corn supply business, a legacy she proudly continued after his passing in 2020. Over the years, she also dedicated herself to a career in business administration, serving as the secretary for the New Madrid County Sheriff's Office.  She also worked in public service as a member of the University of Missouri Extension Council. A woman of deep faith, she shared her love and guidance as a Sunday school teacher for the toddlers class and through volunteering for Vacation Bible School. She had a deep passion for genealogy and found great joy in helping others discover their roots and preserve their family histories, tracing her own family tree back to the 1600s.  She enjoyed watching movies, especially Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  She loved attending St. Louis Cardinals games with her family, where she especially loved cheering on her favorite player, Yadier Molina.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  Her brothers Randall (Emma) Fowler of Kewanee MO, Timothy (Lynette) Allen Fowler of New Madrid MO.  Her sons Tommy (Angie) Leonard McCoy II of Festus, MO and Terry Lynn McCoy of St. Louis, MO, Six grandchildren Ciara' (Jon) Calvin, Chelsea Hargis, Courtney Hargis, Kaylin McCoy, Jackson McCoy and Tanner Kozel and four Great-grandchildren with one on the way.  She was preceded in death by her brother Joey (Karen) Franklin Fowler of New Madrid, MO.

Visitation will be from 10:00am for the public with a service at 11:00am and graveside service to follow on Thursday April 23rd.  Pastor Webb Manley of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church will officiate.  Burial to follow at Portageville Cemetery.
