Cassie Gould was born September 9, 1918 in Portageville, MO to Corbett Jamerson and Nola Johnson Jamerson. She was united in marriage to Alva Gould Feb. 8, 1942. To that union, one daughter, Beverly Ann Gould Hammett, was born. Cassie also had a daughter from a previous marriage, Peggy Hudgens. Cassie's husband, Alva, preceded her in death on March 11, 1988. Also preceding her in death were her parents; sisters: Lois Taylor, Cora Coleman, Pearl Whittemore; brothers: Harvey Jamerson, J.C. Jamerson, Hubert Jamerson; one step-son, Jay Gould; and one step-daughter, Genevieve Forrester. Cassie was President of Carter School Reunion for many years. She was also Vice President of the United Methodist Women for three years and taught juniors in Sunday school for two years. After moving to Texas, she became a member of the Security First Baptist Church in Cleveland, TX and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved God, Bingo, and walks with the dogs. Cassie's favorite bible verses were: John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. and Psalm 23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Cassie leaves two daughters: Beverly (husband Jerry) Hammett of Cleveland, TX, Peggy Hudgens of Hot Springs, AR; one sister, Marlene Meadows of Colorado; one brother, Roy Jamerson of Bonne Terre, MO; five grandchildren: Richard Gould, Terry Lee Hudgens, Tracy Hammett, Kimberly Ann Hammett, and Angela Gail Blocker; six great-grandchildren: Brittany Hammett, Jimmy Hammett, Joshua Blocker, Brenden Blocker, Jared Simpkins, and Krystal Simpkins; many neices and nephews; and many other loved friends and relatives.
