Obituary

Carolyn Faye (Chandler) Walker, a beacon of love and intelligence, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, in Sikeston, MO at Delta South Nursing & Rehab Facility. Born on February 28, 1949, in Portageville, MO. Carolyn was a woman whose presence was felt in the warmth of her smile and the kindness of her actions. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her laughter and friendship touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of joy and compassion.

Carolyn was born to William Chandler and Ella May Ross of Portageville, MO. She was lovingly raised by Henry Joe & Alice Arthur of Portageville, MO, who provided her with a home filled with love and support.

Carolyn was a proud alumna of North Pemiscot High School, class of 1966. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, where she furthered her education and set the foundation for a lifetime of learning and achievement. Carolyn's career was marked by her dedication to the community as she worked for DAEOC, devoting countless hours to serve others until her well-deserved retirement in 2021. Carolyn was also a DJ, at KMIS on the weekends, where she was well known and loved.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Charles William Walker on June 11, 1972 in Portageville, MO until his departure of life on January 14, 2022 and to this union two children were born.

A family woman at heart, Carolyn's greatest pride and joy were her daughters, Erika Walker of Portageville, MO, and Miyaka Walker of Columbia, MO. She was a cherished sister to Pinkie (John) Dixon of Lake Wales, FL. Her love extended to her granddaughters, Jasmin Walker of Caruthersville, MO, Mikiya Walker of Houston, TX, Jade Walker of St. Louis, MO, and Kyra Moss of Columbia, MO. Carolyn was also a doting great-grandmother to Kylie, Kaylin, Blaize, and Jaxxon, each of whom brought a special sparkle to her eyes. Also leaves to cherish her best friend, Linda Roston.

Carolyn's interests were as varied as they were rich. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching her favorite soap operas, but her true passion lay in the time spent with her family. She was an active participant in many community activities, always eager to contribute and make a difference. Her friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a hand made her a beloved figure in her hometown.

Described by those who knew her as loving, intelligent, and friendly, Carolyn's presence was a gift to all. She had the rare ability to inspire and uplift, bringing out the best in everyone she encountered. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one person can have on the world around them.

As we bid farewell to Carolyn Faye (Chandler) Walker, we do so with gratitude for the time we were privileged to share with her. Her memory will continue to shine brightly, guiding us with the love and wisdom she imparted. Her spirit, a blend of strength and tenderness, will live on in the stories we tell and the lives she has influenced. We honor her life by carrying forward the values she cherished and the love she so freely gave.

Carolyn's legacy is not only in the lives she's touched but in the example she set on how to live with grace and kindness. As we remember her, let us celebrate the extraordinary person she was and the countless ways she made our world a better place. Though she has left our sight, the essence of who she was remains with us, a comforting presence in the fabric of our memories.
