Carol Anita Penman

Was born on November 9, 1950, in Marston, Missouri to Charlene Cotner Morgan and Hallie Morgan.  She passed away on Sunday February 9, 2025, at CoxHealth Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 74 years and 3 months.

Preceding her in death was her father, Hallie Morgan and grandson, Enoch Miller.

Carol graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in education in 1985.  She worked for Missouri Children's Division in Caruthersville and then for the DAEOC Homeless Shelter in Sikeston for many years.  She was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston.  She was a spirit-filled believer and was a powerful prayer warrior who would stop and pray for anyone at the drop of a hat, no matter what she was going through herself.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and her two fur babies, Daisy and Cookie.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Charlene Morgan, mother, Clarkton, MO. Richard Morgan, brother, wife Beverly, Clarkton, MO.  Charlotte Terry, daughter, husband Mark, Ozark, MO – grandchildren Aaron, Aden, Gannon, EllaMarie, Luke, and Rosie. Brian Miller, son, Ozark, MO – grandchildren – Benjamin, Aaron, Barnabas, and Charity. Special aunt Sharon Miller, Benton, MO, special cousin Sherrie Laws, Portageville, MO, stepmother Ann Morgan, Sikeston, MO, and a host of cousins, nephews, and friends.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to Frances Murphy who faithfully cared for mom for many years, as well has her home nurse, Donnett Pepper, and Community Wide home services.  We also extend our gratitude to Ozark Nursing Care Center and Cox South Hospital for their care for mom in her final months. In addition, thank you to Pastor Allysia Long at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church and its congregants for their love and care for mom over the years.

She would want us to remember these words from John 5:24 ESV:  "Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.  He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life."
