Obituary

PORTAGEVILLE-Betty Sue House, 85, died June 1, 2013, at Golden Living Center in New Madrid. She was born March 6, 1928 in Portageville to the late George Worth and Jane Young Worth. She was preceded in death by her brother Bob Worth and sister Rosemary Worth Latta. On December 27, 1946 in Piggott, AR she married Raymond A. (Doe) House. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2002 after 56 years of marriage. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Pat McCrate, one son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Karen House; two granddaughters, Beth McCrate of Charlotte, NC and Ashley Musgrave and husband David of Portageville. Three grandsons David McCrate and wife Jeanie of Seattle, WA, Will McCrate of Vancouver, BC and Joshua House of St. Louis, MO. Three step-granddaughters Ashley Kay Russell, Brooke Pind, and Casey Jackson all of Portageville. Two great-grand children, Kierstan Musgrave and Charlie House. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. She was a retired third grade teacher from the New Madrid County R1 School District having taught at Marston, Portageville, Matthews and Lilbourn. She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville and the Agape Sunday School class. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter GU and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was known for her quick wit and her love of family, reading and travel.
