NAME: Barbara C. Cook ADDRESS: Portageville, MO AGE 88 years 8 MONTHS 1 Day Date of Death : Thurs; March 1, 2012 PLACE: Portageville, MO Date OF BIRTH; June 30, 1923 Place of Birth Hitchin, England. MOTHER: Rose West Gray FATHER Earnest Gray ORGANIZATIONS: She was united in marriage to Sam F. Cook on August 23, 1944 in District of Uxbridge, county of Middlesex England. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1977. Also preceding her in death, were her parents, Rose West Gray & Earnest Gray; and adoptive parents Frances Annie and Thomas Culter, ten brothers and sisters. She joined the English Royal Air Force and was serving during the war with Germany. Most of her Air force days were spent working in the mess hall helping feed the troops of the Royal Forces and the Americans. It was during this time of the war that she met her intended husband "Sam F. Cook" who was serving in the Army for the United States. During the tour of duty in England Barbara and Sam had a daughter born "Joyce May". When the war was over Barbara and Joyce (13 months old) departed from England to the United State on the Queen Mary in February 1946. From New York they boarded a train to Portageville Missouri.
