Ardin Edward Simmons

Was born February 1, 1940 in Hayward, MO to Alfred A. Simmons and Nevel "Polly" Viola DeTie. He died Wednesday; October 12, 2016 at Portageville, MO at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 10 days.

Preceding him in death was his parents, Nevel "Polly" Viola DeTie & Alfred A. Simmons, his step-mother, Mae Simmons, his grandchild, Kristen Simmons, brothers; Alfred "Cotton" Simmons Jr & Joseph Simmons, sister; Lillian Powell & son-in-law, Elvis Atchley.

On the 19th day of September 1969 in Portageville, Missouri he married Peggy Elrod Simmons, who survives of the home. Ardin started working at his service station at the young age of 19 in 1959. In 1972 he purchased the Service Station that he has poured his heart and soul into. The Simmons Service Station will always be known for that old wooden bench that many people sat at throughout the years. Ardin served on the Portageville Fire Department for 42 years, retiring as Assistant Chief in July 2005.

He had many beloved family members to cherish his memories, his wife of 47 years, Peggy Simmons, son: Kris Simmons, two daughters: Sabrina Atchley & Michelle (David) Parsley, all of Portageville, Missouri, Brother; Gary (Carrie) Simmons of Poplar Bluff, MO, sister; Sharon (Rayburn) Summerton of Vicksburg, MS, nine grandchildren: Josh Atchley, Katrina (Danny) Miller, Ashley Deprow, Hannah (Dustin) Rudi, Seth Parsley, Aaron (Sara) Parsley, Luke Simmons, Mary Beth Simmons, Nick Simmons, four great-grandchildren: Elijah Ardin Miller, Jaylon Nicholas Stros, Will Rudi & Monroe Parsley and a host of many other relatives and friend.
